Specialists are required to visit classrooms to support effective instruction and ensure facilities and equipment are in safe working condition. The specialist maintains a state and national presence for MPS through conferences and committee participation. The specialist works with other specialists and teachers in developing and/or acquiring aligned curricular resources and assessments.Candidates must complete an on-line application which requires appropriate Arizona certification, valid IVP Arizona fingerprint clearance card, evidence of highly qualified status, three letters of recommendation, and transcript of credits.Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director in meeting accountability goals and program compliance at the local, state, and federal levels
  • Provide curriculum support and assist with aligning instructional resources to scope and sequence
  • Support specialists, teachers, and administrators in understanding and applying instructional strategies and innovations
  • Act as a liaison between the district and external agencies, including ADE and community partners
  • Research and recommend safe, cost-effective instructional materials; obtain vendor quotes in accordance with district policy
  • Coordinate with MPS departments to ensure instructional equipment is functional and safe
  • Represent the district through active participation in relevant CTE or professional organizations
  • Coordinate and deliver professional development for teachers and staff
  • Develop online learning content for students and educators
  • Serve as the primary communicator for the content area to internal and external audiences
  • Lead efforts to enhance cross-disciplinary integration within the Curriculum & Instruction department
  • Oversee writing, revision, and implementation of district curricula in the assigned content area
  • Monitor and support material and instructional needs for teachers
  • Track and monitor end-of-course assessments and program performance
  • Stay current with best practices and emerging trends in curriculum and instruction
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by district leadership

  • Valid Arizona Teaching Certification
  • Meets the criteria of a highly qualified teacher in the content area assigned with Arizona certification with the ability to become CTE certified
Experience:
  • Classroom teaching experience in STEM or STEM/CTE-related content areas
  • Experience integrating technology into instruction and utilizing learning management systems
  • Background working with site-based or collaborative instructional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and collaborate with peers and stakeholders
  • Proven success applying effective instructional strategies and research-based best practices
  • Experience supporting diverse learners through differentiated instruction
  • Experience with curriculum design, instructional planning, and/or curriculum mapping
  • Participation in or leadership of professional development, learning teams, or new teacher support initiatives
  • History of building and maintaining strong professional relationships with teachers, administrators, students, parents, and the community
  • Comfortable working independently under pressure and managing time-sensitive projects
  • Experience working beyond traditional teacher hours, including evenings, weekends, and summers
Preferred Qualifications:It is preferred that the applicant possess the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.
  • Meets the criteria of a highly qualified teacher in the content area assigned with Arizona certification and at least 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience, with the ability to become CTE certified
  • Strong communication, planning, organization, presentation, and leadership skills

  • Knowledge of national, state, and district educational standards and instructional trends
  • Proficiency with technology, including presentation tools, word processing, and desktop publishing software
