We sell our products through wholesale distribution across the United States and Canada for use on properties with onsite wastewater treatment systems.GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:This is an advanced-level leadership position that exists to direct the activities of the Systems Engineering department. The Systems Engineering Manager is responsible for the development of the Systems Engineering department through mentoring and training, improving department processes, delegating/scheduling of work and other activities, and by providing regular feedback to staff on performance. The Systems Engineering Manager will interact regularly with the wastewater management team to ensure the direction of the systems engineering group is aligned with regional and company objectives. The Systems Engineering Manager is responsible for running the department efficiently and profitably.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and KRA:> Safety/Culture
  • Continuously maintains Orenco management's safety, cultural, and professional standards.
  • Promotes, encourages, and reinforces a positive safety culture, safe practices, and a safe work environment to all employees, associates, and clients.
> Sales Support
  • Ensures systems engineering staff are trained in upselling and cross-selling techniques.
  • Works in cooperation with the ESCs to support their sales plan.
  • Ensures systems engineering staff are regularly increasing our contact database of key external stakeholders.
  • Ensures systems engineering staff are technically trained to provide in-depth external stakeholder education.
> Leading
  • Leads required meetings and effectively facilitates the drawing out of ideas and opinions.
  • Demonstrates leadership within the systems engineering department, and within the organization on a daily basis.
  • Mentors and trains staff within the systems engineering department.
  • Improves methods for internal and customer-facing processes.
  • Volunteers and leads team, department, and organizational initiatives.
  • Coordinates with various departments within Orenco as necessary regarding team initiatives and objectives.
  • Sets and strives to complete annual personal development goals.
> Planning
  • Participate in the development and completion of the wastewater department strategic plans and objectives.
  • Develops systems engineering objectives that are aligned with department and corporate plans.
> Systems Engineering Management
  • Ensures that the systems engineering department is adequately staffed and trained to provide superior customer service to both its internal and external customers.
  • Ensures that the necessary resources and processes are in place for the systems engineering department to function properly.
  • Ensures that all department deliverables are met regarding project management, department initiatives, and corporate initiatives.
  • Ensures the opportunity entity of CRM (Customer Relationship Management) is up to date and accurate at all times.
  • Manages all of the administrative functions for the systems engineering department.
> Product/Project Management
  • Coordinate the creation of manufacturing drawings once orders are released to production.
  • Regularly (weekly) meet with the production team to ensure all projects are on schedule and adjust schedule of projects as needed to meet customer needs.
  • Review customer facing documentation on behalf of the engineering team; including, but not limited to, technical data sheets, installations instructions, specifications, marketing documentation, and engineering drawings.
  • Provide feedback to product changes/improvements.
  • Coordinate with product management & manufacturing on product issues and coordinate field repairs as needed.
  • Coordinate field repair work and remote Prelos assembly for engineered systems projects.
  • Review all Engineered Systems project orders, update CRM projects accordingly.
  • Daily review of sales analytics once orders invoice, update CRM accordingly.
> Reporting
  • Thoroughly documents all necessary customer interactions in CRM.
  • Inputs, updates, and ensures accuracy of customer contact information in CRM.
  • Monitors and measures departmental performance by tracking and reporting on key result areas.
  • Communicates department needs back to the wastewater management team.
  • Provides reports to key stakeholders on key metrics for the systems engineering department.
  • Provides 60-day forecasting reports on engineered systems projects expected to sell.
  • Update weekly Engineered Systems sales metrics for sales managers.
  • Has in-depth knowledge with all Orenco-related products and technologies.
  • Is familiar with all Orenco-related products and technologies.
  • Is familiar with all state and local regulatory rules.
  • Is familiar with third party equipment used on commercial and municipal collection and/or treatment opportunities.
  • Will occasionally perform additional duties of the customer service, systems engineering, regional sales, and asset management teams.
  • Work to be done during manufacturing business hours, however this position may on occasion work outside business hours to support department and business needs. Occasional long hours may be required.
  • Regular, consistent, and predictable attendance is required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:A BS (Bachelor of Science) degree in engineering is a plus. Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
  • At least twelve months experience as a Systems Engineer III with demonstrated proficiency across the systems engineering team key result areas or equivalent experience in a similar position.
  • Excellent leadership skills required.
  • Excellent organizational skills are required.
  • Provides professional, courteous, customer service to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to give technical presentations to a large audience.
  • Demonstrated confidence with applications such as word-processing, spreadsheets, and email.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of corporate order entry system and CRM.
  • Ability to learn employment law appropriate to the level of a supervisor and possess the ability to make good decisions where poor judgment could cause a negative impact on the company.
  • In-depth knowledge of Orenco policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated competence in mathematics including algebra required. College level algebra skills are preferred.
  • Ability to be flexible and change priorities with little notice. Uses sound judgement and follow through in problem solving and decision making processes.
  • Must be willing and able to travel a minimum of 10% of the work time. This requirement will fluctuate depending on business needs and other objectives.
  • Must be able to comply with current travel regulations and guidelines of airlines and destination locations.
  • Must be able to meet and maintain Orenco's approved driver criteria; a valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record, current insurance on personal vehicle, and meet company insurability requirements.

Travel requirements may include operation of a motor vehicle, airplane travel, and overnight stays in temporary lodging. Includes exposure to outside weather conditions and occasional exposure to dust, other outside elements, and wastewater that may require the proper use of personal protective equipment including but not limited to gloves. Work is to be done during manufacturing business hours, however this position may on occasion work outside business hours to support department and business needs.
