As a leader in children’s health, we engage in meaningful programs and partnerships throughout the region so that we can improve the lives of children beyond the walls of our hospital.OverviewThe Tracheostomy {Family Preparedness} Program Coordinator, in collaboration with the home ventilator care programs, inpatient units, respiratory care, ear, nose, and throat, and all other departments providing care for patients who require a tracheostomy, is responsible for ongoing leadership, operations, and engagement with the tracheostomy education program and associated improvement processes. The scope of work includes care for and education of all patients requiring a tracheostomy in any Children's Mercy setting including: inpatient units, emergency departments, and ambulatory clinics.At Children’s Mercy, we are committed to ensuring that everyone feels welcomed within our walls. - Promotes and delivers high quality patient and caregiver education at Children's Mercy.
- Performs all job responsibilities for Job Code 34000 or 34055
- Promotes high quality tracheostomy care while in the hospital setting and ensures caregiver preparedness prior to being discharged from the hospital into the home environment.
- Works to develop, implement, and organize educational materials and programs that meet the needs of patients, families, clinical staff, and the community for tracheostomy care and caregiver preparedness.
- Bachelor's Degree Nursing or Respiratory Care and 3-5 years experience (Pediatric) Clinical experience working with patients who require a tracheostomy and/or a tracheostomy and home ventilator.
- One of the following: Licensed Respiratory Therapist KS, Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
- One of the following: Licensed Respiratory Therapist MO, Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
- RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
- Refer to Respiratory Care 34055 and 34000 Job Description or Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
- Specialty Certification relevant to unit's patient population (determined by Manager/Director) Required 1 Year
