Job description: Position SummaryDevelops new business and manages carriers as well as large and medium SMC³ shipper accounts. Consults with prospects and customers to develop and implement transportation pricing, data and technology solutions.Essential Job Functions


  • Generate company revenue from sales calls of new and existing customers by marketing and understanding the shipper and supply chain market place from both an operational and technology perspective.

  • Responsible for generating new business from prospective accounts and meeting sales goals and targets.

  • Must establish, grow and maintain business relationships with large and medium size shipper accounts.

  • Responsible for generating new sales from beginning to end, cold calling and strong entrepreneurial work ethic.

  • Prepare pricing, license agreements, and contracts in response to customer RFQ’s and develop business opportunities.

  • Engage resources and guidance from operations and VP of Sales in order to deliver the best customer solution.

  • Must be able to forecast sales activity and reach revenue achievement while satisfying the needs of SMC3 customers.

  • Educate customers about the value and benefits derived from SMC3 new and existing products.

  • Directly manage and provide direction to the Sales Support staff, ensuring they are performing the functions of their job.

  • Travel – 40% required. This position covers the geographic territory of the Southwest and Western United States.

  • This position is eligible for remote work; however, it necessitates frequent travel for business purposes.

Qualifications/Educations/Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in logistics/transportation/business) with 10+ year’s direct experience in related role. Advanced degree a plus.

  • Knowledge of the LTL transportation industry, supply chain and the technology and software packages used to support it.

  • LTL Pricing experience a plus

  • Knowledge of shipper markets and the technology and software packages used to support it.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of productivity, manages multiple competing priorities, and work effectively under the pressure of time constraints in a fast-paced, complex collaborative and team-oriented environment.

  • Understand at a high level the overall technology concepts used in today’ business environment. Java, SOA, Web Services, etc.
