Job description: General DescriptionJOIN OUR TEAM AS A PROJECT MANAGER! The Project Manager role involve highly complex and specialized road rehabilitation paving project management work. Duties include planning, coordinating, evaluating, and reviewing the work of subordinate technical employees, consulting Engineers, Inspectors, and Contractors engaged in the analysis, planning, designing, paving and rehabilitation of County Road projects.Essential Job FunctionsConducts technical review of road paving projects within expected time frames and established standards. Applies appropriate analytical techniques to paving projects and prepares reports with sound recommendations, makes presentations, and updates key stakeholders as needed. Participates in the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies to help develop the department's annual budget. Manages contractor and/or consultant work associated with road rehabilitation projects and other projects as required. Prepares project estimates; responds to and resolves difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints. Provides technical assistance to citizen groups when requested. Required to participate in the County's emergency management activities. Performs related work as required.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Knowledge of and certified in FDOT principles and practices as applied to the construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of road and drainage systems; principles of supervision, training, performance evaluation; pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations; and contract review.

  • Knowledge of the County's Land Development Code and Southwest Florida Water Management District ERP Basis of Review and permitting procedures.

  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports; analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals; interpret and apply federal, state and local policies laws, regulations and codes; review detailed plans and prepare accurate estimates; understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.

Minimum RequirementsPHYSICAL SKILLS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written, and visual communication. Travel and in-field work are required. Work performed in the field may often be in remote and undeveloped areas of the County and under adverse weather conditions.EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Business Management, Public Administration or related field and six (6) years of experience in a project management supervisory position that involved activities associated with road paving and rehabilitation, construction or maintenance OR a Master's Degree and four (4) years' experience. Experience in public sector preferred.LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.
