Job description: Job Description:Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a RILA Pricing AVP Actuary!About the roleThis position is expected to manage the RILA product pricing within the Retirement division. The overall scope of responsibilities will include determining product strategy in collaboration with other multi-disciplinary teams, monitoring the competitive landscape and determining rate setting practices for new policies and renewals, staying up-to-date with upcoming regulatory changes, pricing new innovative product features and communicating risks to senior management, and optimizing results. Will be aligned with Retirement Actuarial with support from junior actuarial staff and will frequently have meetings with senior management on strategic changes.What you will do
- One of the lead actuaries within a division overseeing a major segment or function such as pricing/product development, financial reporting, modeling, and/or risk management.
- A lead member of the division actuarial team and may assist with division planning, and setting strategy for achievement of division goals.
- Approximately 80-85% of time spent on project and management work, including reviewing work & developing employees, and up to 15-20% on recurring work.

- Bachelors degree or equivalent with strong quantitative background including college level mathematics.
- 8+ years of insurance related actuarial experience. Typically 10+ years of experience.
- FSA required.
- Demonstrated, highly effective communication skills.
- Proactively communicates without prompting and independently drives action to address work needs.
- Communicates extensively with senior leadership and executive management.
- Familiarity with new types of tools that are available or that are being implemented to support actuarial work.
- Advanced knowledge of actuarial concepts and assumptions used for modeling, pricing, and financial reporting.
- Demonstrates this depth with quality advice and recommendations.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage major actuarial functions and small teams.
- Ability to solve complex actuarial problems independently in a multi-dimensional context.
- Demonstrated mastery of insurance/products and knowledgeable on industry info.
- Very experienced in a variety of company, industry, and regulatory actuarial issues.
- High school diploma required
