Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.The Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC) of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an exceptionally talented, motivated, and creative Principal Defect Metrology Engineer/Sr Principal Defect Metrology Engineer position located at our Linthicum, MD facility.The Advanced Technology Lab (ATL), part of Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC), located outside of Baltimore, Maryland - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers as well as emerging technology programs. Northrop Grumman's ATL semiconductor foundry is a unique capability supporting a range of production microelectronic devices (Silicon, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, and Silicon Carbide) and providing leading-edge technology development in Superconducting Electronics and SLCFET. Our devices enable a number of Northrop Grumman's ground-based radars, avionic radars, and space systems. The Principal/Sr Principal Defect Metrology Engineer should possess some knowledge of defect metrology, defect detection techniques and practices. The selected candidate should have an aptitude for data analysis, technology development and demonstrate an ability to communicate well with others and work equally well independently and as part of a team.The Principal/Sr Principal Defect Metrology Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to:Maintaining, existing, and developing new in-line defect metrology recipes and techniques for defect inspection and review tools. Assisting with ongoing efforts to integrate in-line defect metrology into our process flows. Writing and maintaining process documentation. Partner with vendors and equipment engineers to drive existing and future tools to meet foundry and program needs. Supporting statistical process control (SPC), continuous improvement efforts, and the management and dissemination of metrology dataThis position is required to be fully on-site.This job may be filled as a Principal Defect Metrology Engineer or Senior Principal Defect Metrology Engineer based on the qualifications below.Basic Qualifications for Principal Defect Metrology Engineer:Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or other related technical discipline with 5 years of relevant experience; Masters in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or other related technical discipline with 3 years of relevant experience; PhD in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or other related technical discipline with 0 years of relevant experienceGeneral understanding of defect inspection and review tools (such as dark field, bright field, and scanning electron microscopes)Basic knowledge of statistical process controlHands on experience with Si, GaAs, or other wafers1 year experience with semiconductor fabricationAbility to work in a cleanroom settingUS citizenship requiredAbility to obtain and maintain a Secret clearanceBasic Qualifications for Senior Principal Defect Metrology Engineer:Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or other related technical discipline with 8 years of relevant experience; Masters in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or other related technical discipline with 6 years of relevant experience; PhD in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or other related technical discipline with 3 years of relevant experienceGeneral understanding of defect inspection and review tools (such as dark field, bright field, and scanning electron microscopes)Basic knowledge of statistical process controlHands on experience with Si, GaAs, or other wafers1 year experience with semiconductor fabricationAbility to work in a cleanroom settingUS citizenship requiredAbility to obtain and maintain a Secret clearancePreferred Qualifications:Hands on knowledge and operation of defect inspection and review tools (such as dark field, bright field, and scanning electron microscopes)Experience in lean manufacturing practices and structured problem-solving methodologyExperience working in a cleanroom settingData analysis and visualization (JMP)Experience utilizing KLA, AMAT equipmentExperience with coordinating with vendorsExperience creating technical documentationExperience developing technical specifications for equipment procurementActive Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret ClearanceSalary Range: $105,400.00 - $158,000.00Salary Range 2: $131,100.00 - $196,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
