  • Offer evidence-based education and guidance regarding pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum recovery, infant care, and breastfeeding.
  • Support clients in self-advocacy during medical visits and hospital/birth center stays.
  • Conduct in-person visits and maintain regular communication with clients through calls, texts, and virtual check-ins.
  • Document client interactions, services provided, and relevant outcomes for program tracking and reporting.
  • Collaborate with PUSH’s community health workers (CHWs), medical providers, and maternal mental health support groups to provide wraparound services.

    Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to travel locally to attend client visits, births, and postpartum support sessions in homes, hospitals, and community settings.
  • Periods of standing, walking, and physical movement during labor support.

  • Occasional administrative tasks, including documentation and communication via phone, email, or video conferencing.

QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Qualifications:
  • Certified or trained as a Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula, or equivalent experience in perinatal support (DONA, CAPPA, ICEA, or other recognized training preferred).
  • Community-based doula experience or demonstrated commitment to serving under-resourced communities.
  • Strong advocacy skills and understanding of racial and health disparities in maternal health.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations, including Black, Latinx, immigrant, and low-income families.

  • Flexible scheduling, but must be available for on-call labor support as needed.
  • Contractors must maintain their own business expenses, including transportation and professional insurance
    ETHICAL DUTIES
  • Maintain consistency with code of ethics/conduct, policies, and procedures.
  • Exemplify company’s core values and guiding principles:
  • PARTNERSHIP: Progress happens when we lean into collaboration, even when we disagree. We are committed to working through challenges and building shared solutions that move us forward.
  • UNIFICATION: Our strength lies in coming together, weaving individual efforts into a collective force that creates lasting, thriving communities.
  • SUPPORT: We empower individuals and families with the resources, knowledge, and care they need to turn challenges into victories.
  • HEALTH EQUITY: Everyone deserves access to health and well-being, no matter their zip code, identity, or background. Equity isn’t just a goal—it’s our foundation.

  • INTEGRITY: This isn’t just a standard; it’s our way of being. We hold ourselves accountable to our mission, our partners, and the communities we serve with unwavering honesty and dedication.
  • RESPECT: Dignity is non-negotiable. We act with accountability and ensure every voice is heard, valued, and treated with care.
