The Opportunity
The at (Mines) is looking to hire multiple Teaching Professors who have a clear passion for conveying knowledge to novice software professionals. Preference is for someone at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor, however exceptionally strong candidates at higher ranks will be considered. We are looking for superb teachers who inspire students and will advance the University's commitment to diversity. Each successful candidate must be able to teach one or multiple core computer science courses (including, but not limited to: CS Introductory Sequence, Software Engineering, Systems Programming, Computer Organization, Programming Languages, Discrete Math, and Theory of Computation) and preferably teach additional elective courses (including, but not limited to: Database Management, Web Development, Computer Vision, AR/VR). Candidates should also plan to support departmental recruiting efforts, coordinate multi-section courses (including supervision and training of adjunct professors and teaching assistants), and participate in curriculum innovations and improvements.
Responsibilities
Develop and deliver course materials to undergraduate (and possibly graduate) students, demonstrating teaching excellence.
Coordinate multi-section courses and collaborate effectively in curriculum development, innovative pedagogy, and other departmental services.
Supervise and mentor undergraduate students (and possibly graduate students).
Contribute both institutionally and professionally through active service.
Cultivate and promote an inclusive and diverse Mines community through recruiting, mentorship, collaboration, and service.
Compensation and Benefits
Mines is offering an academic year salary rate in the ranges of:
Teaching Assistant Professor $86,000 - $92,000
Teaching Associate Professor $95,000 - $101,000
Teaching Professor $105,000 - $110,000

Ph.D. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or another closely related field.
Commitment to excellence in teaching and curriculum development at the undergraduate level.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Teaching Assistant Professor candidates must demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and educational service.
Teaching Associate Professor candidates should have prior experience leading and teaching various courses in the CS curriculum, including introductory programming and core-level courses.
Teaching Professor candidates should have prior experience leading and teaching various courses in the CS curriculum and a demonstrated record of leadership and application of educational research.

The CS Department currently has 17 tenured/tenure track faculty and 9 teaching faculty, and 1 Professors of Practice. The department offers a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Computer Science with more than 1000 undergraduate and 140 graduate students.
